LONG AND SHORT VOWELS - LEARN AND PRACTICE

Letters in the English language don't have fixed associated sounds. Unlike languages like German and Spanish, an educated guess on how to write unknown word might end up spelled completely inaccurate. English is not phonetic. While children learn the spoken language from hearing, it is mandatory, when it comes to writing, to teach, guide, and correct written words. Once, child is familiar with the spelling patterns, it will be easy for him or her to spell the words correctly.
Here you can download worksheet for learning and practice long and short vowels. It is easier to remember when you associate the word with an image - that is why every sound is represented with familiar objects from the everyday life.
